This flyer was distributed on the campus of Towson University in Maryland in 2012. Towson is a majority Black campus. In an election year and at a time when tea party activists were under fire for perceived racism, the WSU garnered media coverage.

Because Towson is a majority Black campus, this flyer was clearly targeting a White audience with its wording and imagery. The use of a passive white, blonde woman w/head tilted up, suggests vulnerability and need for protection. A threat is implied.

    The message is propaganda because it is targeting white audiences on a college campus and is persuading them to feel that they have to unite. This is very harmful to society. The propagandist is selling the message by using the image of a blonde, white woman and saying that you should love your race, not all races. The emotional appeal present is self-esteem. It is trying to target white people and is making the assumption that if they do not for a white student union, that they do not love their race. That would make those students feel bad about themselves.

    This message qualifies as propaganda because the creator of this flier is trying to get it's readers to support a "white student nation" if you love your race. This message is harmful because you should love every race not just your own. The flier is pushing people to practically only like their own race. They are selling this message by saying "love your race". This would appeal to plainfolks because they're using the word "your".

    This qualifies as propaganda because it tries to influence you to support a white student union and perceive white students on campus differently, as needing protection from other classmates. i would say this is harmful to society because, as stated above, it implies a threat towards white students, so stating that black students are the threat. This is a very harmful idea. I think social fears and association is being used. It makes it sound as white students are ostracized and you associate how the woman is posed with vulnerability.
